hi all, i have been reading all over the net on how to add gif images as product images.
i have tried and tested all the ones on the net with no success. so now i turning to the master of open cart to try and find out how this can be done.
i have been reading and testing for the past 2 days.
please help if you can

butte, could you use .swf file not as a product image? You know my site, as you have helped me a lot... for example, could i use a .swf file in my welcome module on my landing page? (specifically for the safety first image)

Sure, both of you can use .swf but you need to remember that OC will not make thumbnails of them, and that they are inherenty slower loading than normal images are. You can even use .swf for products just to use them, but there they will tend to interfere significantly with al of the eventualities that already make category and product pages relatively slow to unfurl while foreach is looped and so forth.
There is, however, a serious caveat for using .swf for products. The images called are .jpg, .png, and .gif, not .swf, so to call .swf you would have to amend code, either core or via vqmod. You would perhaps probably also have to set the mime types for that, for reasons that would indirectly arise in deviating from how OC normally works.
