I have recently updated my old website using a new opencart one. We sell handmade greetings cards and wedding stationery. If anyone would like to take a look at http://www.purplemountaindesigns.co.uk and give me some feedback it would be very much appreciated.

Thank you for looking!

Understated, pleasant, and appropriate, all with the default theme (casually amended). Nicely done. You may want to keep uncloned default/ and cloned yourdefault/ in separate directories, so that in upgrading only the uncloned default/ will be overwritten.

Thank you for taking the time to look. It was set up by a company who I initially employed to do SEO (as yet unsuccessfully) and as such I am a bit out of my depth trying to make it a bit more my own. The only changes I've done myself have been to the css. I've learnt a lot from reading this forum, but could you tell me what you mean by the cloned / uncloned directories?

Thanks for your time!

You start with a theme/default/ and if you make a copy such as theme/son_of_default/ then the first is uncloned original, and the second is cloned copied default renamed son_of_default. Upgrades overwrite default/. If you keep your modified clone separate, then upgrades will not overwrite it and son_of_default will live on -- unruffled but eventually in need of some surgery just to go along with upgraded core.

For me, Header is little more than it should. It takes half the fold and that's why make it difficult for many visitors to properly explore website.

Also, at the bottom, you've added freeindex banner. Shouldn't you go for horizontal one if they have?

P.S. These are my opinions, i may be wrong.

Thank you both for your replies, much appreciated.

I agree that the FreeIndex banner would be better horizontal but they don't do one. I could probably alter the code so I'll have a look at that. Is it the top header with the Logo and company name on that you think is too big, or the banner in the middle with the pictures that change?

Hi there,

I also thing that your website is very nice. You have completed the contact page with a phone number and address which is great. The only point I would make is on the category your left hand side bar goes

- Category
- FreeIndex Reviews
- Contact us

The contact box is just wording and does not stand out, maybe make it stand out a little more. Also the position of it. I would move it about the FreeIndex reviews. The reason for this is that its right near the bottom of the page where you have link to your contact us page anyway? Also what about adding it to your product detail page?

Just my two cents.

Great design, I really liked the slideshow you used. Your featured card list also seems interesting and it is very smart to incorporate them into your Homepage. Good work . However, your social media button should be present at the head section of your website. Anything that is beneficial for your website should be at the top section of your website.

Hello purplemountaindesign, it’s good to hear that you provide handmade invitations and greetings; I liked your work and really appreciate that. Can you design handmade greetings for my marriage that has a picture of Wedding venues Los Angeles on it?

I like the colours combination very much!
Can you align the "add to cart" buttons under "featured"? It would look even better.
