I have setup a opencart store but have not yet utilized it yet, still using ebay because i am able set a specific shipping price based on country and item

I have a few items which are not shipped by me but the factory, i take the order and submit it to them for shipping
When a customer views the item on my site and would checkout or calculate cost i do not want USPS or other options to be shown just a flat rate cost of say $200 for USA and $300 for AU

This is the main reason why i still use ebay, any help is appreciated

If you read the description of this module http://opencartguru.com/shipping-by-pro ... cart-addon youll notice the author say within a week he will release a module that from the description can do exactly what you want (perhaps contact him for an update on the progress if sound like what you want.)

Take a look at Product-Based Shipping, which should do what you want. Or, you might be able to assign the weight of each product as its shipping cost, so that when the cart contains 200 lb of products for example, it would charge $200.00 in shipping. If you can do that, you can use Weight-Based Shipping and just charge a bracket like this:

From: 0, To: 99999, Charge: 0.01, Per (lb): 0.01

Hi,

Thanks i was able to achieve it with zones and weight based and will test it further before deciding to keep

However it still shows USPS options as well

How can i make it so that USPS is disabled for certain items or weights

There's no option for that in a standard installation. You'd need to edit the /catalog/model/shipping/usps.php file so that it disables itself when the cart contains certain items or weights. Otherwise, you can do it with Restrict Shipping Methods.

Thanks for that info. I am surprised opencart is not as flexible for some basic functions. Of course its not a complaint since its free cart. But a little extra work is better than using magneto which is super confusing.
