firstly thankyou for the hardwork of the main developers. opencart os still to me the easiest to work with and feayire rich cart out there. however thereare a couple of particular weaknesses even in the latest release. the issues have been raised before.

1. speed and scalability. for sites with lots of categories. please add the database indexes fix in opencart installer and optimise the category code. we can now switch off category count but still it takes a while to render category menu. from viewing numerous posts across the internet still the problem seems to be the actual sql queries and number of to acheive the end goal. there are commercial mods selling for hundreds of pounds to address the speed issues. its a real shame as this problem alone may result in opencart getting a bad rep and people deserting it for something horrifically worse like magento.

2.net product price as price entered. its been discussed before and i can see the reasoning of daniel in that vat should be added at cart stage to take into account zones etc. but it just seems plain weird for all prices in the database to be strange decimal values when using mods that allow price including vat to be added. its more intuitive for shop owners to add a retail price. im sure other carts do this differently. i realise that this wont change as it would require a considerable rewrite to opencart but would be interested to hear peoples views.
