write information pages and link from home menu

Hi,

I would like to write some pages about how to use our products. How can I make those pages and link to them from the top menu? I also would like to make a top menu item with some dropdown levels.

I have seen that I can write Information pages which then show below the title Information in the footer, this is what I don't want.

write an information page, select not to list at the footer. then edit your theme's header.tpl to add in the link manually
