Hi there, recently, I was emailed an asked to upgrade to PHP 5.4 - I upgraded today from 5.2/3 to 5.4 and now I can't access my images (using an opencart theme) to post new product? I keep getting the following error message: " Waring: gzdecode(): data error in /home1/lilterra/public_html/admin/index.php(1) : runtime-created function(1) : eval()'d " followed by a long list of syntex errors with a list of image names and I have to force quit Safari? Can anyone help with this?
Thanks,
Glenn

Apparently the library for it needs to be updated or some of the features need to be turned on. Your host may give you choice to select among 5.2/5.3/5.4, and 5.3 seems optimal.

Pre-5.4 are not a security risk yet. You may want to look into changing servers.
The monkey is on the host's back. Apparently the host did not finish installing it -- unless you have a fully independent dedicated server, Linux or Windows, Apache, php, mysql, and whatever else were installed for you.
Search for "gzdecode" gives one result, this thread, but web-wide gives 38,000 results, see
http://php.net/manual/en/function.gzdecode.php (gzdecode — Decodes a gzip compressed string)
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/9801 ... n-gzdecode Zlib support in PHP is not enabled by default. You will need to configure PHP --with-zlib[=DIR]
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1072 ... de-and-php I cannot use gzdecode with php as it is not installed and I cannot install it,
https://www.google.com/search?q=gzdecod ... #q=gzdecod general list of links
Beyond that, If you're Apple and Safari, check Apple support and forums for the Safari part of it . . . this should not force a browser choice, there isn't anything to set for it, notwithstanding that having to abandon Safari for Firefox would probably be a good idea anyway.

Sorry, I don't know what any of that means butte?
All I know is if I update to php 5.4 I can't access my images on the back end? I haven't updated my opencart in awhile.
I'm going to try that - see if that does anything.
Thanks,
Glenn

Tell host you're getting a "gzdecode" error which seems to mean that 5,4 is not correctly installed, and ask whether versions are selectable, can you choose 5.3 instead.

See PM. [Look just above the Arvixe banner near top of this page, left side, messages, poke that.]

It does help to realize that support can be worse than counterproductive. You will see at
http://forum.opencart.com/viewtopic.php ... &start=340 an error (No. 1242) whose recommended fix was to "fix your DIR_SYSTEM" but the rest of the page shows some of what BlueHost support did, whether to amend installation or to befuddle user or both. BlueHost is scarcely alone, it just happens to be relevant in this thread. When given runaround, be prepared to ask or merely to require that the ticket be escalated. There is a chance that somebody who is reading a notebook and barely speaks your own language will be superseded by somebody who works with the machine itself and speaks several languages. There are several reasons for changing servers, some have nothing to do with the machine.
