Checkout Failure

Hi all,
I am having a problem with a bug in my open cart version 1.5.5.1 During checkout, when I click continue from 'Billing Details' A window pops up and says a bunch of gobledy goop that I can't select and paste here. When I go to my Admin and check the Error Logs I find the following.
I have found sort of similar problems discussed in this forum, but none of the solutions seem to apply in my case.
the lines in question 144, and 149 seem to relate to the group info. But I can't see anything wrong with those lines. I'm wondering if the data is garbled somewhere else and the php file is fine.
Anyone have any suggestion?
