Aloha, I have already browsed google for the answer and cannot get it to work. How do I move my entire opencart store to my current domain? My opencart store is located at www.kinisurfwear.com/shopkini and I want to move it to www.kinisurfwear.com., to replace the current website at that url.
Please do not tell me to go into my file manager and change both config.php files because I have already tried that and it doesn't move my store. Instead, it opens my original website and causes the opencart website to loose images, modules, everything. I need more information on how to make the transfer because obviously simply editing the two current config.php files at their current locations does not accomplish anything. I'm guessing there is another step involved that no one is explaining in any of the threads/forums online.
Some background info: I'm using ultrawebsitehosting as my host. They include a Presence Builder which I used to build my current site (at www.kinisurfwear.com). I am also using ecwid.com as my shopping cart (located at www.kinisurfwear.com/shop) and it was installed using the Presence Builder. I am using opencart version 1.5.6 so there is also no option to change the url in settings. I want to do away with the Presence builder and ecwid.com and just use opencart as my main website and shopping cart.
Mahalo for your time.
Move all files from "shopkini" folder to the root, and change the two "config.php" files, and if you're using the ".htaccess" file, change "RewriteBase /shopkini/" to RewriteBase /", and that should be it...

See all my extensions: https://www.opencart.com/index.php?rout ... 20OpenCart
Thanks a bunch! I had a sneakin suspicion I had to do that, but wasn't clear if I had to move the folder or not since none of the forums I was reading told me to do that. Thanks!
If you leave the store in its directory and point the domain TRAFFIC to that (at registrar and host, both, if need be), then your account root will be available for further uses. Any change requires attention to .htaccess and to both config.php files (use FileZilla Client for ftp rather than the host control panel's molasses file manager). Any one website that commandeers the public root of your account forces others to be elsewhere. You presumably can have more than one domain in your account.
