Hi guys

Most of you probably don't know what I am talking about. But for the few that have come across this problem, will probably LOVE to find this topic. So i am doing this as a favour to the internet.

As far as I know, this problem isn't exclusive to Opencart. The issue is when importing a excel file into your shop and some of excel's "special characters" show up as machine code on your product descriptions. For me, this was mainly _x000d_ which was in place of where line breaks were meant to show.

The accepted solution on the net is to do a find and replace. In the Find box type in while HOLDING ALT 010. Or you can press CNTRL and J. Both do the same thing. And then to replace it with a space, or whatever you see fit.

Although it is worth noting this solution, it did not work correctly for me. I think its a bug with excel. Even though i removed the line breaks, and they had physically disappeared (ie. i could not phsycially see the line break anymore) the machine code was still showing up in my descriptions.

I spent hours figuring this out, but this is the solution for all of you having this headache:

DO THE FIND A REPLACE AS MENTIONED ABOVE. BUT THEN THE SECRET IS TO SAVE IT AS XLS ...... NOT XLSX

fixed. Over n out :-)

I don't care if you're a man or a woman, but I LOVE YOU! thank you. I didn't do anything with the line break code, I just saved it in xls instead of xlsx. and that did it. thanks again.
