purchase downloadable file and checkout

Hi guys,

Working on my first opencart. Inserted some downloadable products. Ordered one in the shop. Does the admin have to change the status for the order to Completed, manually? If I don't do this is the Admin, the customer doesn't see the downloadable product in Account - Downloads.

What is the correct way to let the customer download the file without intervention of the Admin?

use paypal and turn on IPN.
