Yeah, it was there for the first release.
Of course it was gonna end up like it did. Several of us were pushing for a later release and had Wilt working on some stuff then Kim came along and opened her trap

( I will skip a few lively, colorful, trite adjectives, adverbs, and verbs here

) Never give a woman keys to the house, or least the master key which gives her full access to everything.
I know how it went down.
Anyway, that is in the past.
My ideas and suggestions may not be the best match for opencart but the spirit and ideology behind them are sound.
Let the community help, we will do right by opencart.

When, when, when will released OpenCart 1.5.0?
We were promised by December, and again nothing!
If the owner can not or he does not have enough time.
Then it may work in a team, I see that many offer their help!
But their for some reason ignore! >:(

This is such sarcasm? Show me where is it?
You probably wanted to say, December of next year?
P.S.
I meant the beginning of December!

I would much rather it take a bit more time and be right than have it rushed out just to make some arbitrary deadline.

We appreciate your work Daniel.... better to take a bit longer and be a quality product than rushed.
With that said, I'm eagerly awaiting to get my dirty little hands on 1.5

Couldn't more agree on that.
Take your time Daniel, we know that you are working hard in 1.5.0.
btw. How's your arm?

Take your time Daniel, as other members said, it is better to be good quality rather starting to make fixes.
God Bless

This page is off ....
hmmm, a few

would have helped ...
Daniel thank you for your comments. However, to appease the "when, when, when" crowd, why not include a roadmap? For example: [ 4/10 finished ... still need some more time. ] We don't need what the 10 or 4 are but at least the hungry masses will at least get an idea of a progression time line.

If you were to stand at a distance and look at things logically, you might like to ask instead, why would someone like Daniel, or indeed any other developer, want to give up hundreds of their hours to give something away for FREE?
We should perhaps all be grateful that there are people out there that see the bigger picture of NOT having the Internet dominated by big corporations.
Open source carts give many small entrepeneurs the opportunity to have a presence on the world wide web, that may otherwise be beyond their reach. As consumers we all ultimately benefit, by being offered a much wider range of products in the marketplace.
Daniel and all the other hard working developers that have the generosity of spirit to give something away for free, give the average guy on the street an opportunity to change their lot in life and THAT is something you can't put a price on.

Just be grateful there are people like Daniel out there in net land.

I would consider it flattering that people get antsy over when 1.5 will be released and vent it out on the forums. I mean it's better then no one giving a damn, as that would mean no one cares about the cart (a.k.a. it's about to fail).
I'm sure Daniel is working hard on getting the cart just right, and I agree he shouldn't be rushed because I'd rather have a 1.5 that actually works instead of filled with bugs that could have been avoided if the proper time were taken.
But to be honest I don't expect it will be out in December. Unfortunatley Daniel has cried wolf one too many times (3 by my count) so i'm not really taking timeframes seriously anymore. My philosophy is, I'll believe it when I see it...

There are actually 4 parties involved in this little part:
1.) the developers
2.) the end users who do nothing but ask for help
3.) users who give back by helping / donating
4.) people who make a buck off peddling their wares based on the code
Each one basically needs 1 or more of the others. Well, the developers could do it just as an experience but ...
I am grateful for having any type of opensource. IF not here I could just as well move on to another person's/team's code and of course the experience will vary.
Am I grateful for opencart?
Yes
However, I do see that because of 2,3 and 4 the developers could or have received some type of financial gain from opencart. Actually, I wonder if Daniel is the one at the moment who is making the least from his efforts
Basically, give the "when when when" crowd a break. Yeah they are
irritating but they also could easily have been taken care of by saying "check out the 1.5 progress thread". Short, simple and blunt in a RTFM fashion. Also, this will also help reduce the chance of them going out and blog about their "wonderful" experience at opencart.
I'm really surprised by how un-professional some of the response have been here. Isn't ecommerce a type of business? Don't you want to create good will so that people might stop by and by one of your extensions that you are hawking?
Do they teach about Abraham Lincoln or Benjamin Franklin anymore? (talk about a freudian slip

)
