I have no idea really - If it was working and isn't now then there's a couple of things it could be
1. Your execution time for php is limited and times out
2. You've run out of memory

You'll need to turn on error reporting in the system > settings and see if it produces an error. You may only need to look in the OC error log to find out as well
If you don't see any errors, get in touch with your hosting company and ask them to enable error reporting for you (they should be able to do it without issue using htaccess)

Either way this isn't really a base issue but a hosting one from what I can tell

I've increased the memory from 64 to 128, and execution time from 18,000 to 36,000. There are no errors.

Have you checked with your hosting that displaying errors is enabled and that it's set in OC's admin area? the "display_errors" flag could have been set to false which would mean they won't show regardless of OCs setting

The display_errors flag isn't set to no.

I'm wondering if it has something to do with the products being entered in manually through a script instead of with the admin.

The products don't show as "latest products" so my guess is this could be part of the problem.

The products show when you browse the category though.

Could this be the problem? What can I do to make them show as latest, I bet that would fix it.

Thanks

Ah, then its likely you've not set the dates for when the products are available from/to

Hi all,

What I have done so far

went to http://www.google.com/base/ and logged into my merchant account
clicked on 'data feeds' on the left hand side
clicked on 'New Data Feed' button
made up a file name as 'google_base.xml'
clicked on 'save changes'
Then it went back to the data feed view, on the 'upload schedule' column i clicked on 'Daily - edit'
the schedule upload box appeared and filled in as follows:

Upload: Daily at: 12:00
URL of file:
http://magazinesubhub.com/index.php?rou ... oogle_base

It says
Uploaded on Apr 28, 2011 3:37 pm EDT
No items inserted - Processed on Apr 28, 2011 3:38 pm EDT
Destinations: Product Ads, Product Search, Search API for Shopping

Total File Size: 845.14 KB
Detected file format: XML

XML formatting error - Error
Our system encountered an error when processing your data feed. Learn more.
Examples:
Line Nr. Column Nr.
1 207

I have downloaded Jays module, but havent added it yet. Will that fix my problem.

Hi Anthony. In short, install it and see :) There's no way to know for sure without trying, and you've got nothing to lose. Many of the official feeds issues are solved with it, so give it a try and hope for the best

It didn't work. I still get the xml formatting error.

Any thoughts Jay?

If not, do you know of anyone on the site that can help me with getting this issue sorted?

Thanks!

Well mine works just fine, so I'm guessing you've got some characters that shouldn't be in the feed that are causing the problem. can you post or PM me your URL

Hi Jay

I have been using your module, great stuff.

My feed is:

I have put the data feed into base, and all products come through, but with warnings.

Basically it tells me that all products are searchable as i did this like 5 days ago, but i can't find them in google.

I didn't think these errors would stop my products from showing, just thought it was minor but it seems it is, after some reserach.

Had a look at the mod file, but my understanding of this is fair to be honest, so i thought you'd be the best person to go to.

Hope you can shed some light on this.

many thanks for the great module,

Chris

Chris

Hi Chris. I really can't see an issue with this feed, it looks spot on and comes up in both firefox and IE just fine. All of those attributes should be fine too. Can I ask when did you download this module?

Thanks jAY, REALLY APPRECIATE YOU getting back to me.

Hmm I know its strange, right?

I downloaded it on the 8th may, keep an update log for work completed.

I have an exact duplicate on my server, if wyou want to look at that you can, its completely mirror image of the live site, with a restored backup of th live site, so it actually becomes a bit confusing sometimes, but this is where i test new features and ideas.

In short the google base improved feed works on this and works the same as the live one, so if you wnat i can PM you that and you can have a my specfic google base version.

Let me know.

Chris

Hi Jay, do you know why Spanish characters like á, í, ó, ñ, etc are making the feed not work well. the truth is that it is a shame if I can't use them, as words would be strange and it would be difficult to type them in remembering not to use them.... By the way... on the other hand do you know how these characters affect Google finding these words? In other words, will google find them easier if I leave the characters out? In Spain somebody might look for "marrón" or "marron", so I prefer getting both searches better than one....

Here are the 2 feeds I've got:

Google Base feed:

http://bolsoclub.com/index.php?route=feed/google_base

Improved feed:

http://bolsoclub.com/index.php?route=fe ... e_improved

Thanks a lot, this is fantastic mod.

I'm trying to add "free shipping" into the feed for items where shipping=0

I have so far:

if ($p['shipping'] == '0') {
$item= $this->_c('g:shipping');
$item->appendChild($this->_c('g:country', 'US'));
$item->appendChild($this->_c('g:service', 'Ground'));
$item->appendChild($this->_c('g:price', '0.00'));
}

For some reason this closes the </item> tag.

How can I get around this?

thanks
