most of the time its idiots how have not configured the server properly. Google analytics and SagePay are only minior stuff and minor errors. they do not stop the system running.
don't use 1.4.0 then, use an older release. in fact go and use magento and see which cart is buggy!

Sure, I see many posts that are clearly due to misconfigured servers or config files. I've found the fix for analytics and its fine, SagePay is still broken but will wait for this as PayPal is working fine. To be honest these were the only things I had problems with so far - it just seemed there were a lot of posts about many bugs which I haven't seen.
I've used Magento and it can be over complicated to use if you don't need all the bells and whistles but it is a very good cart - apart from being way too slow. One of the things that attaracted me back to OpenCart was the 1.4 makeover and the admin is much, much better than before.
The real reson for my post was to see if it is recommended to move back or stay with 1.4. I'll stick with it for now and as I said I'm happy to get involved with UAT if you need any assistance.

Search for my previous posts, I think I posted a fix for SagePay not long ago. If you can't find it, PM me and I'll post it for you
guys the next version is nearly ready. adding the multi shop feature has created another layer of complexity. it will need some people to write some good instructions. it actually makes the system highly configurable. you could run one web site as a standard shop and another site setup as a B2B shop all from the same admin.

cool, thanks for the hard work on the updateDaniel wrote:guys the next version is nearly ready. adding the multi shop feature has created another layer of complexity. it will need some people to write some good instructions. it actually makes the system highly configurable. you could run one web site as a standard shop and another site setup as a B2B shop all from the same admin.

just a reminder, I've only been using open cart one day, but during the install, one instruction was omitted.
right after step 2 on install.txt should have "rename: .htaccess.txt to .htaccess"
by the way opencart is pretty bad ass

generally speaking the .htaccess does not need to be renamed unless you want to use seo urls12oclocker wrote:just a reminder, I've only been using open cart one day, but during the install, one instruction was omitted.

Outstanding, that is exactly what I need.Daniel wrote:guys the next version is nearly ready. adding the multi shop feature has created another layer of complexity. it will need some people to write some good instructions. it actually makes the system highly configurable. you could run one web site as a standard shop and another site setup as a B2B shop all from the same admin.
How are invoice numbers handled between the stores? Do they increment from the same base or are they seperate? Does that make sense? lol
nice. wuhoo! its cuming!Daniel wrote:guys the next version is nearly ready. adding the multi shop feature has created another layer of complexity. it will need some people to write some good instructions. it actually makes the system highly configurable. you could run one web site as a standard shop and another site setup as a B2B shop all from the same admin.

what would be cool is if you could have a prefix to the invoice number and it would still increment, such as...
Invoice number: 27B-271
271 being order number 271, next order would be 27B-272,
that way anything before the "-" you could customize and easily keep track of muliple stores that way.
Also, I've noticed abandoned shopping carts will increment the numbers, just a simple way to edit the "next" order number would be great.

This would be what I'd be looking for. But with both shops on the multi site option using the same invoice ID, so I don't end up with 2 invoice (one from each shop) with the same invoice number.Qphoria wrote:Probably not. Best just have a separate invoice id that increments only when the order is confirmedDaniel wrote:for the invoice numbers. if i make the orders editable and let people enter their own invoice number will that be acceptable?
But, I can live with the 'edit and add your own invoice number' option too.
Id you can get the invoice with id shop
a system that assigns a unique number that is closely related to the ID

As this topic is about 1.4.0 I have moved the questions about the Roadmap to the appropiate topic.
