I have the same issue (running 1.5.1)

most of my packagers are < 4 oz (i sell decals), but i don't want to force customers to not have the option to select Priority Mail if they are in a hurry..
.. but i don't want them choosing the 'infamous' postcards for $0.29 either. Of course, if they choose that option, I could 'stick' their decal on the postcard and mail it

As far as I know it hasn't been fixed yet. Waiting on Global Moderator Qphoria to fix it. I'm running 1.4.9.4. It also has more issues than the postcard issue.

I using 1.5.1.2....had the first class mail problem with the first class options missing for US domestic mail....Did the new patch....Did a test purchase on a 2oz item....went through check out....no 1st class mail options just priority mail in the front end. Checked all my back end settings and they appear to be right... what am I missing...I must have something messed up. Your help is needed

You are sure you checked the boxes for the new firstclass options? You may need to resave the usps configuration to clear out the old settings.

I just double checked and it is working fine for me on my test site. Try for yourself here:

I double checked the boxes and re-checked and saved...my settings are regular....variable.... no....Did a test check out and now parcel has been added but still no first class....All first class boxes re-checked and saved but still no first class.

I did a test purchase and I do see that your shipping options are working...mine are not...I don't know what the difference is.

I am still running 1.4.9.5 on a sub-domain and it has a setting
Domestic First Class Rate Type:
First class applies to 13oz packages or less. When disabled, standard premium rates are returned. I don't see that option in my 1.5.1.2 version was that removed?

Running 1.4.9.4. I did all the updates as specified and I still do not get the First Class Shipping option for a .19 lb package, only the Premium Mail Services listed. See below. I do see it works on your test page but it's still not working for my version. Do you have a test version working for 1.4.9.4?

United States Postal Service (Weight: 0.19lb)
Priority Mail $5.10
Express Mail $13.25
Express Mail Sunday/Holiday Delivery $25.75

Yes that was the "Fake fix" that was in the code previously. The real fix removes that extra line.
Perhaps you have to check "Machinable" to true

Sorry for the delay been very busy updating the v1.5.1.2...I tried your suggestion to change it to true but true was not there...it was either yes or no. I changed it to yes....rechecked the first class boxes...did a test purchase and had the same thing...no first class options at this point. Just priority and parcel mail. I also noticed that the Parcel post shipping was nearly double the priority flat small box was....Parcel post is about the cheapest way to ship larger items. The item I was testing only weighed about 3 oz. Any other ideas?

I upgraded from v1.5.1.2 to to v1.5.1.3.1 today and everything worked fine except for the USPS shipping changes. I even tried reinstalling and it would not display any first class mail prices. It did display a priority mail price. What is strange is that as soon as I edited the USPS configuration Tax Class to what I have setup as Taxable Goods, the USPS shipping quit working. It would no longer display any shipping options and you can no longer checkout since it can't display any shipping options for a customer to select. It was working fine in v1.5.1.2. I did turn on Debug just to verify that amounts were being returned. For some reason it can't display any of the amounts being returned.

I can see that it works on the test web site that Qphoria mentioned, but it sure doesn't work for me with a fresh install or with an upgrade to the newest version. I've tried numerous different config options for the last several hours and most of the different combinations will not display any USPS shipping charges and it also stops any other shipping charges from being displayed. Any ideas as to why the returned amounts won't display?

UPDATE: I finally figured out what is causing the problem. I have UPS and USPS as my shipping options. If I disable UPS, the USPS shipping amounts will display. If both UPS and USPS is turned on, no shipping options will display.

I'm using the USPS module, and in my error log, for international shipping, i get the error that reads, "Width must be a number greater than 0."

i'm not entirely sure what the problem is..

There are dimension params in the admin area.. looks like you left blank

Ok I just upgraded to 1.5.1.3 and still have the first class mail not showing up. I guess that I got skipped on this very important issue. Can some help me figure this one out?

But I continue to have the same problem. "Error: No Shipping options are available. Please contact us for assistance!."

I cannot get a quote, can't get past #4 in the checkout process.

Do I still need your patch, or was the upgrade supposed to fix that?

Just out of curiosity, do you have the UPS shipping module turned on? I've only found 2 ways to get first class mail to show up for me. Disable UPS shipping in the new release or replace the 5 shipping files in v1.5.1.3 with the ones from v1.5.1.2. I've posted a message in the bug forum about this a couple of days ago, but I have not seen any replies confirming this bug.

Confirmed. This is because of the new price sorting function that I put into both shipping options. Didn't realize it would leave them loaded. So it actually errors out if they are both enabled. This is in 1.5.1.3 only.

The fix:
1. EDIT: catalog/model/shipping/ups.php

2. FIND:

function comparecost ($a, $b) {
return $a['cost'] > $b['cost'];
}
uasort($quote_data, 'comparecost');

3. REPLACE WITH:

function upscomparecost ($a, $b) {
return $a['cost'] > $b['cost'];
}
uasort($quote_data, 'upscomparecost');

Firstclass rates however are working fine when using usps alone or after you make this fix. Be sure you've selected them in the admin area. Be sure your dimensions aren't more than 10x10x10x10
