Does it use db transactions? This is critical.

I didn't have Xsecrets down as a woman ?!?

I would actually enjoy the forum much better if everyone else used a photo avatar so that it is possible to see exactly who you are talking to.

Why is it important to see the gender of the person you are talking to?

I wasn't refering to gender in any way. I was saying that it is nice to see who you are talking to, regardless of gender - it simply seems right and honest.

It is sometimes quite amusing seeing/meeting someone that you only know as an anonymous figure on the internet and seeing how wildly different they are to the picture you have built up. A face tells more about a person than words ever can. I can only assume that Q is particularly ugly.

(Having said that, I would probably talk to a female member in more of a 'hold the door open' way than a 'scratch my balls' way).

My comment was more of a joke ... unless it is true .... have to wait for X on the confirmation .... ;D

On another forum (P-cars) in the OT (off topic) location of the board. It's the wild west, take the piss out of anybody, anything. Of course, it's a total jest fest :joker: And it's always "scratch my balls" regardless of gender.

Well, we were bugging one of the ladies to finally post her pic. We've already posted wives, GF's, f*buddies, I'm sure you get the picture.

Anyway, God/the gods answered our prayer ... lolololo, we went from "scratch my balls" to "please" fluff my balls

Since the thread would be pointless without a pic.
Here's the obligatory pic:

My bad! I actually DID think you were a woman....I attribute it to one of your posts about a year ago wherein (I could have sworn) in response to someone's presumptive he/him you wrote she/her not he/him....I was surprised by the (evidently incorrect) realization, and it stuck...My apologies!

Qphoria wrote: 4. Layout & Theme
The template design has returned back to the way it was in 1.3.2 and earlier using a single "layout" page. Versions from 1.3.4 to 1.4.9.x used a "children" method. See this pdf file for a brief breakdown w/visuals:
Layout-vs-Children.pdf
Many people, including myself, favor the layout method over the current children method. And now that modules are more resilient for container placement, I think it makes the layout method even better. All themes will need to change to work with the new layout method. You may be able to use old 1.3.2 themes as a base and then upgrade it, but be aware of all the new changes.

The new default theme was created with css-only styles. No more inline styles (YAY!) This would probably be your best base for any new themes in all honesty. For those who made their themes the correct way, assuming the main layout hadn't changed drastically, you should have very few files to update. Perhaps the inclusion of the layout.tpl file in addition to the header updates and some stylesheet changes.
It saddens me to say that the layout method has gone away again. It was causing problems from the start due to the way daniel wanted the modules to work. He has since ripped out the layout code, which only took about a day and a half so it shouldn't delay things much, and it is back to the current controller-children based method.

He has added a new getChildren class to the controller, and hopefully will be removing the hardcoded
$this->children = array(
'common/header',
'common/footer',
'common/column_left',
'common/column_right',
)
crap and adding a proper database "controller_to_children" table so we can still specify which modules, columns, and children we want to see on different controller pages without having to edit the controller code. This was probably one of the reasons why many of us disliked this method so much, as it was very limiting and required code changes to change the layout. As long as there is a proper setup for that, it should be tolerable.

All the new module positions are still expected to be implemented.

We will learn more when released, but this may mean that converting templates will take less work, tho the new template is css based so it is recommended to start with it as a base for 1.5.x themes.

In release news, Daniel is moving to Hong Kong for a while on Jan 12th. He intends to release 1.5.0alpha by then, and then when he gets setup in HK he will continue working.

I actually ended up implementing that in the areas that I needed ASAP.

I also did something fun with the CSS.
I am using variables to change the colors at the moment based on location of the module.

I also am working on another type of mod to the templates.
I haven't implemented them yet but some pages are also going to be language based.
So, when you change to different language (ie, US English to UK English) you get different versions ;D

Template will look exactly the same.. not sure about the layout design.. after looking around, others like Wordpress use the current method instead of the layout method. So its not necessarily a bad option.. but maybe just needs some enhancing to be more useful

no and db transactions are not really needed for this type of application and most web applications come to think of it. maybe the banking system.

so i don't see the point of of putting in something in for no reason.

Apart from, perhaps, the second "in" in that sentence?

I'd rather wait long for a stable 1.5.0 than a early buggy 1.5.0
