I am interested in using Till Magic for our store and have it installed on my server. Interested in learning more about barcode and credit cards and also if you had an idea of when the next version will be released.

Hi lowtones,

Sorry to be slow to respond. In this video see how it works pudes issuing barcodes, and as used at the time of sale: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DgyC7E8tjYc

The next version will be out in two weeks or so. The improvements are:

-A better communication with the Panel Opencart (customers, indicators, multiple taxes, etc ...). Not that I do not have it now, but we will improve it.
-Bill responsives to 58mm.
-Interface responsive (mobile-oriented)

please allow a few more questions on the implementation:
zaqueon wrote: -At this time no camera uses an android tablet.
If you can use any bar code reader, but does not launch the camera from a tablet or mobile by default.
thats understood, the question was to use the camera+library to overcome the barcode reader requirement - though it is known that this isn't as good/fast as a dedicated barcode reader
zaqueon wrote: - The functionality of a product removed from the cart through the barcode is something that if we are going to implement in the next version.

-Also we will launch this feature in the next version (quite sure)
The question here was more - will I be able to scan an existing barcode on the product box, to be inserted to/removed from the basket on sale OR scan item on delivery intake and then add to stock

OR will I need to re-label all items with the generated barcodes which your system currently does create?

will you integrate receipt via email rather than print as well?

can you supply a lets say 5 items only version - so testing of the POS is actually possible?

cheers
Mark

really like the idea of Till Magic POS, especially open source and bar code and kiosk mode, thanks

we would need another piece

we need a piece that can process orders from our warehouses

yes, i know default oc can pull up orders, but we really like the Till Magic kiosk mode and bar code capability, and this sort of interface might work really well for our bulk order processing from several warehouses

in other words, it would be great if the warehouse could have different order processing stations that tied to opencart that allowed different stations, different warehouses, order processing, adding/editing stock by bar code reader, designating some quantities of items as wholesale, others as retail, other common warehouse responsibilities

the idea is to have a full-powered backend that can operate in different workstations in multiple warehouses, some in different countries, different levels of access based on user group, etc,

hope i've been at least fairly clear, maybe it could be called:

Warehouse Magic

:)

whatcha think?

Great work, Zaqueon. I am new to Opencart and this looks like just the addon I am looking for. But one point of clarification, please. Your video mentions 5 modes of payment. Would Reward Points be one of them? Say if 1RP = $1.00, and the customer has, say, 20RP. Can he use that on the POS to get a $20 discount? Raman

Hello,

I have purchased this extension, but there are a few issues.

1. Seems to be more suited to mouse use than touchscreen. Many buttons are tiny and close together making it difficult to use touchscreen (especially the "Cash Tarjeta Cheque al portador" buttons and the +/- buttons on the sale page. There is lots of available screen real estate hopefully this can be addressed.

2. There is still lots of Spanish text (even though my website and POS are set to use English). I think this is due to using database tablenames as text instead of using a translatable text in the script. Payment Methods popup, the receipt etc.

3. Does not work with 58mm printer. Prints the receipt (that is formated for 8"x11" page) but then prints about 5 feet of grey bar. You stated that this would work with receipt printers but the version I downloaded definitely does not work, nor does the demo. Would it be possible to have an option to choose type of receipt style and have a trimmed down printable receipt option for 58mm printers? Also a print button on the receipt page would be handy for touchscreens as well. Even trying to print the 8x11 receipt to a regular laser printer requires using the mouse to right-click and choose print from the browser options.

If these issues are not addressed, then I may be able to have my/a coder(s) adapt the scripts, is that a violation of the TOS?

I purchased this extension back on 06th September 2013. When I first installed it, it crashed my site. I'm OK with that as it was a newly released extension and I expected it to be quite buggy. The crashing issue was sorted after a couple of days. I sent on a list of bugs; not being able to login as a current user and needing to create a new account, search not working, various items in Spanish. I then sent another bug on to the developer. He replied that it's a small bug and will be fixed soon. None of the bugs I forwarded were fixed and no communication has since been received from him. The worst customer service I've experienced with an Opencart extension and I've purchased almost 40 of them. I find that the vast majority of extension developers are most helpful and will sort out bugs etc... in a timely manner or at least give a rough date. I'm being forced now to go and spend more money on a POS extension as this was a complete and utter waste of my money and time. I've waited over 4 months for new releases and bugs to be fixed but to no avail :( :( :(

Once again, he has deleted my comments from the comments tab on the extension page. He is able to delete a comment in under an hour but can't manage a reply in two months to a simple bug report and status update request. :o

Well it seems it's not only me that's been having an issue with this module.

Like a lot of you, I didn't expect to just be ignored by developer. Everyone's busy, I accept that, but after repeated attempts at support and asking for time frames, I've just given up.

I'd warn everyone away from this module (and any other these developers release). The POS might be okay with some development, but it's just totally unusable as it is.

They've made me wary of spending any money on a module which isn't fully developed, which is a shame as I'd like to support the smaller development teams out there.

Hi scanreg,
I was looking into this one but haven't bought it yet. Seems to be well supported and has plenty of regular updates:

glad i saw this thread... i highlighted this as a likely choice for when i attend trade shows and likely open a retail premises. are these issues still unresolved by the developer?

Yes, still unresolved, haven't received one reply from the developer. I can only speak for myself. I'm talking to another developer whom I've bought some modules from before who is considering developing a POS module.

**WARNING** If you bought this module, DO NOT install the update posted yesterday, it has trashed my website.

It's supposed to be a stand alone installation, but obviously something has been written to an existing table in the database.

I am currently trying to get hold of the developer to resolve this!?!
