I don't think this is what Daniel is talking about. I think he is simply talking about submitting the existing forms like contact login etc via ajax not a complete form builder.

Why would we want a commercial, Mac only, desktop application plugin?
jQuery does this natively and simply. Form don't even need to be edited. Just add the ajax event capture and be done

I never expected you to integrate a commercial, Mac only, desktop application plugin into OpenCart. That would be silly.

I was merely giving an example of how beautifully Ajax can be used to do what Daniel is talking about. I think it's a great idea to have Ajax powered forms because it looks really awesome. That's why I gave the links, because they link to an Ajax powered form so people could actually see what an Ajax powered form is. And the part about inspiration, well, I merely meant that perhaps looking at some other Ajax powered forms out there might be useful, you know, just to compare, that's all.

Actually, I'm not confused Xsecrets. I understand completely that Daniel is not talking about a form builder.

Ok, I'm sorry if the links I provided caused some confusion. I just added them because they link to a form that uses Ajax. And if you go through and complete the sample form from those links and hit the submit button, you can see what Ajax will do. It's just an example so everyone can see what exactly Ajax can do for OpenCarts forms....

I just mentioned the inspiration part only because I thought Daniel might want some Ajax powered forms to compare with, that's all. LOL, for all I know maybe he doesn't. He's a damn genius when it comes to coding and development anyway, so maybe he doesn't even need to look at other Ajax powered forms. I'm sure he's got his own ideas...

I did go and have a play with the ajax form and it is very nice. The more swooshy ajaxy stuff the better and the more 'modern' the sites look as a result.

Take a look at http://store.opencarter.com/preview.php ... te=minimal (not my work nor am I affiliated with the author but I recognise a thing of beauty when I see it). This uses ajax a plenty and the result is cool - IMHO.

I use a custom form maker that looks incredibly like the one you kindly gave us links to (with similar ajax) by the name of MachForm.

I would like to see an ajax form builder tho. But if you are just explaining the visual effect of that desktop app, then that is cool.

Hmm I don't see any http headers being transferred for that page. It appears to be all DHTML, not ajax. Meaning all that content is preloaded on the page and just hidden/shown when called. But yes dhtml is also very easy on the eyes.

If Daniel steals it this list will even get shorter

Daniel can put whatever he likes into the new version and use whatever technology is available, as long as it doesn't create an unstable product that 'falls over'.

Just hope someone draws a line at some stage, so that you don't end up with a product as complex as Zen, or as resource hungry as Magento.

Every feature ideally needs to benefit the true end user - the shop visitor.

Nice one, looks like a jQuery fancybox with a built-in form and some background opacity, we did something similar using the jQuery colorbox: http://www.derrys.com/contract/online_c ... _farmhouse for adding products to a wishlist and the final submission of the wishlist for quote requests.

what's wrong with the current "add to cart" system? I personally think opencart has one of the better ones out there.

and yes jquery-tools are very nice, and makes all the stuff that it does very easy to implement.

I guess an alternative Opencart checkout using these jQuery colorbox forms could be made available as an optional extension.
