Perhaps have a separate peer-reviewed repository with quality OpenCart themes?

I do recommend the Antropy CSS themes to users whenever they ask for a theme. Just create more of them so we all have more options!
Thank you very much that is appreciated and we'll see if we can design and build some more.

Also, my Stripe Pro extension lets OpenCart users accept Afterpay/Clearpay and Klarna, so those are options for OpenCart. It does require that they use Stripe, but it's available at least.
Good to know, although unfortunately this client wouldn't change their mind as they asked Klarna before they started migrated and Klarna said they didn't support OpenCart. They're now too far along the road to Shopify to switch back :(

A fantastic idea, which I think was the idea behind https://www.opencartx.com/ for judging code quality of extensions.

It would be good if OpenCart would verify theme/extension quality but it would of course be a massive job. PrestaShop tries to do this in an automated way, but I'm not sure how successful that is.

Perhaps if OpenCart made it so themes could ONLY be CSS it would improve the quality, but I can't see that happening any time soon.

Yes, that was my original idea. However, I'm sad to say that it never really took off --- sales are very low for extensions other than my own. I think this is because most developers either sell through opencart.com or their own site, so I was really the only one linking to OpenCartX. I'm also a one-man shop so I couldn't put a lot of time or money into marketing.

That's not to say that a theme-based curation site wouldn't work, but I'd be cautious about expecting it to take off. In my experience most OpenCart users purchase from the marketplace, so it would really be best if Daniel could implement some quality controls in there. The reviews/ratings system is a step towards that, but could certainly be improved (as many of us have suggested over the last decade).

I agree -- if they could enforce that themes must only have CSS, and then can include separate modules, that would be good. Or at the very least, have a "CSS Only" designation so people can filter on those themes when purchasing. Unfortunately, given Daniel's reluctance to change anything in the marketplace, I don't think it's likely either of those things will happen.

It was a great idea but it does take away funding from OpenCart itself, and even though I know your support is absolutely second to none, most people might feel safer buying from OpenCart.com if they don't know that.

I'd like to see the restriction imposed technically where to build an OC theme it had to be pure CSS. To make that easier, ideally some of the HTML would be improved with some extra classes but it can still be done without. But I agree Daniel probably has other priorities at the moment which is fair enough.

Improving the marketplace search and increasing the number of well-coded and good-looking themes probably should be near the top in our opinion at Antropy.

Maybe OC could dare I say offer a commercial premium edition with more features that is supported centrally? GB Whatsapp
A premium edition for OC with centralized support and added features could elevate user experience and provide valuable enhancements

This is not a proper OC theme, rather, it's a bundle of extensions, disguised as a theme, of which some are just re-inventions of the wheel, so to speak. And there should be no need for a theme to use OCmod. It will likely clash with many other 3rd party extensions.

Thanks for the input..
Do you think OC templates coding/approach it is as bad , better or worse than Journal or other similar themes?

We've just released 2 beautiful CSS-only themes!
(Ok we added a couple of classes for Obsidian but that's still mostly CSS-only!)

Check them out here:
