I am working on the integration of OC into Joomla - but will need some time, because at the moment I am not really full satisfied with the current OC code (maybe 1.4.0.1 gets better).

Cool, joomx. Please keep us updated on your progress. And maybe you could work with Daniel, to get some things in OC adjusted (as far as the code) to make this more doable and cleaner.

I also want to see OC and Joomla integration and am available for beta testing.

@ Daniel: The Joomla Leadership and Honor Roll Teams are excellent models to copy for OC Team(s) when you are ready to "open up" OC development to a capable trustworthy group of developers committed to helping you take OC to the next level as discussed in other threads:

I agree with everything. I was kind of shocked when I discovered there wasn't a legitimate integration between OC and Joomla or Wordpress. OC is becoming my favorite cart for its simplicity, the only contender with Joomla is VM which is ugly and buggy. There are just too many add-ons for Joomla and WP for OC to compete as a CMS.
This functionality as a paid component could easily be passed on to my clients.
I would use the softphp version now if the code wasn't encrypted and if the site didn't look like a hacker site. Is there anyway to find out if that version is legit?

JooCart(OpenCart 1.4.7 + Joomla 1.5+)
JooCart sends nothing secretly except licensekey to soft-php.com and very few files are encoded to make sure everybody use it ligally.
It works with 5.3 too and also works with ionCube supported Server

Now JooCart released for opencart 1.4.7 and joomla 1.5+
It is easy to upgrade from previous versions with single click.
*You can upgrade your existing opencart site without loosing your data.
*Integrated with joomla front end user login(single login)
*Separate Joomla Modules(Categories,Shopping Cart,Information etc)
*Joomla Admin Panel
*Combined with Joomla template's CSS

Can we have an open source version pelase? anyone?

Charging for a bridge between 2 openb source projects does not seem right.

I woul'd like to suggest an easy and clean way to integrate OpenCart with every CMS and/or other E-hop as well, no mater which language (asp, cgi, etc.).

Just change the OpenCart template to output a XML string, then catch it in the other system and convert it to youre format.

In other words, the OpenCart system could be (in minor changes) NOT an E-shop but an ENGINE to proccess all data.

I had a plan to do it myself, but I don't have time yet.

Mo.

Is it a bridge or an OpenCart spin-off? I don't want to lose the ability to add mods designed for OC.

I wouldn't get too excited about JHShop. The dev seems to treat this as a hobby more than a project/product. He will login once every few weeks to fix some things the disappear for a week or two (longer sometimes).

So, don't get your hopes up about this one. If there were a great Joomla programmer out there, this Fork of opencart is ripe for picking and forking again with someone interested (truly) in taking this killer opencart project and making a serious joomla ecommerce product. VM is overly complex and going through too many changes to depend on right now.

Opencart is refreshingly nice, clean with a great backend that users can understand how to use vs. VM and others.

The demo for joocart looks flawless. I'm unclear though as to whether I need to install, configure and run opencart seperately, and then buy/install/configure joocart to interface with it - or whether the joocart package automatically calls and gets opencart. I must agree that it's a little strange having a non-GPL package bridging two apps, but based on what I've researched this morning in terms of e-commerce options for a site developed in Joomla, opencart is clearly the way to go and this bridge makes it possible in Joomla. The fact that joocart is non-gpl though makes me pray that support is excellent and bugs are few/NONE!

Has anyone ended up using JooCart with Joomla? I decided to buy it. As someone previously mentioned, you get a license key and nothing else. They point you to this documentation. I haven't yet sent in an email for help to softphp, but that will be my next step and if I hear back, I'll post what I learn here.

I seem to have successfully installed the JooCart/Joomla zip file to the Joomla admin and I'm seeing it show up under Components and can then reach the OpenCart Administration page inside my Joomla admin. This all seems positive, I'm just not sure how to proceed from here.

Anybody have actual experience?
