There is no sandbox environment for a.net like there is for Pay Pal. The only testing you do is by turning the switch to test mode and off again when you want to go live. The only thing it does is verify funds. In fact, don't even run the test mode from the Administration. Just login to your a.net account and switch it from there to avoid problems. The Api Is the same.
Sorry you are having so much trouble with your host. Were they able to reinstall CURL?

Yeah they did that and much more. I am afraid that your post confuses me, what I take from it is that there is no actual testing exchange with authorize.net and all I am testing is the functionality of Open Cart per how it works with authorize.net activated as a payment method. Is this what you mean, God I hope not.
A.net is very simple. By default the API is on Test Mode if you sign up with A.net. You have to turn it off from within your Merchant Account in order to do live transactions. At least from what I remember it's on by default. Point is...that's really all you do. There is no difference in the code used to TEST or not TEST. The only different is that they verify funds and that is all.
I am doing a frustrating burn here... Apparently when you set up authorize.net to test, your account with authorize.net is not usable for test. You must request a test account from developer.authorize.net or something like that. Get test account, enter transaction and it works.

Does authorize.net work similar to www.free-merchant.com? I'm kind of new at this and I wanted to know your opinion since from looks of it you are very knowlagable.
