I have SOME experience with PHP, and had never used OpenCart before, and I got my first store up and running (v 1.4+) in about 4 hours with 30 products (I am now up to about 140 products). That store can be seen here (The custom graphics came later, little by little): http://www.deracing.net/store.

My second store is a vanilla OC store version 1.4.+, and I was able to install it and get it running in about 1 hour. That store can be seen here: http://www.glolar.com/store.

I took some advice from this OpenCart site and went with Arvixe for my web-hosting company, and I think that had a lot to do with my ease of installation. I told them up front that I was installing OpenCart, and they made sure everything was set up correctly on the PHP side of things, so I had no problems.

Don't know if everyone would consider these two as examples of "GOOD" stores, but I think they turned out pretty good :D

Your mileage may vary!

One thing ive noticed when taking on work for various clients is, most if not all of them, have had really bad expierences with web developers before they come to me, mostly all of them have said how they have paid a deposit and have gotten no where, most developers seem to just want a deposit and do no work, leave them with half a website or sometimes even just a photoshop image of what the front page will look like!

After they come to me, and i tell them the whole site will be up and running within 2 weeks they look at me like im mad, but then are shocked when i come through with my promise.

If there was one thing id change, it would be to somehow bar all these so called developers who claim the world and do nothing.

clr0616,

Contact Arvixe and set up your webhosting account, then contact me at info@glolar.com (Get at least their Business Class product, depending on what you need). I will get your store set up (with 30 products) and I won't charge you a dime. If you like the results, you can pay me whatever you think is fair.

How's that for an offer?

P.S., I don't have any stake in Arvixe ... I just know that they have worked out great for me.

Regards

lol yeah I hadn't read it, but yeah sounds pretty crazy. Claims nothing is right for SEO, right after claiming not to know anything about programming, then is complaining about having to pay $400 to get a site up when he lost $100mil. Sounds like a bad fiction writer to me.

the biggest problem was that something was wrong with the htaccess file and it was routing everything incorrectly. This was difficult for me because it was a hidden file and i have never used it before. Now, after two months, have got this far. www.majorcompanies.net/solar_panels
