The main activity logs can be seen from your FTP root folder - > logs or access_logs folder with the most recent date and time of the related activities. If you do see those results, please post them.

Hi straightlight,
from apache log I get the following information when I change the language (2 changes):

192.168.100.2 - - [14/Jan/2018:17:53:01 +0100] "GET /elettro/index.php?route=common/home&language=en-gb HTTP/1.1" 200 4472 "http://192.168.2.45/elettro/index.php?r ... uage=de-DE" "Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:54.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/54.0"
192.168.100.2 - - [14/Jan/2018:17:53:09 +0100] "GET /elettro/index.php?route=common/home&language=de-DE HTTP/1.1" 200 4475 "http://192.168.2.45/elettro/index.php?r ... uage=en-gb" "Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:54.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/54.0"

From OC system -> Maintenance -> Error Log I get no errors

In the /var/log of my web server I also get no informations

Are you using the SEO links on your store?

Hi
no I'm not using SEO links. If I try to enable it, only the home page works . If I try to access other pages I get the following error

Not Found
The requested URL /elettro/desktops/pc was not found on this server.

Something else strange happend

If I select the language I get the following URL
english
http://192.168.2.45/elettro/index.php?r ... path=20_27
it should be
http://192.168.2.45/elettro/index.php?r ... path=20_27

german
http://192.168.2.45/elettro/index.php?r ... path=20_27
instead of
http://192.168.2.45/elettro/index.php?r ... path=20_27

But also if I put the & in the german URL the language is still english

So far, it could be an issue with your .htaccess file. Are you using it right now?

Hi,
now I could manage to enable the use of .htaccess from apache2 (had to enable in apache2 mod_rewrite) But also with the .htaccess enabled (original from the installation files) nothing change.

Hi straightlight,
do I have to do some modification on the .htaccess to allow multi-language functionality?

You do not need to modify the .htaccess file unless you are using SSL and / or SEO links.

Hi,
I have solved the problem with a workaround. I downloaded Opencart BITNAMI VM and I tested it. I try installing the languages and with this installation is fine. So I copied the files to my local WEB directory and also copied the installation folder. Created the new database and restart the installation procedure
Now is working but I still didn't know why in the original installation is not working.
But at least I can go further!

First of all replying to this post harder than solving this problem (weird login password reset procedures). I think tons of people solved this before but no one can access here to post!

solution is: edit language and set status as "close" and save it. now it should work. If you use this language open it again its no longer default.
reinstallation no needed

Excuse me, but how do you edit language and set status as "close"? I have the same problem with OpenCart 3.0.2.0 and Bulgarian language pack. I looked in Admin panel > System > Localisation > Languages, but can't find how to set status as "close"?

I use opencart 3.0.8 version and I have changed the language.php file and the website did not lunch after that
also I tried to open the language.Twig link but it shows 404 error .

when I add the new language as a default language and disable the English the theme and langue change perfectly , but if I enabled the English again , the problem show again !

My goodness. If I wouldn't had land on this topic by myself, I would of never known how or why that unknown username would of been used in the first place and I still don't.

Anyways, back to the original senses it should of been. When you say open the language.twig file, which tool are you using in order to cause a 404 error? More information is needed.
