I have owned a medical supply store for over 10 years and I have tried almost every software option out there on the market.

The shopping cart that you decide to use ultimately depends on your company's unique needs.

Not every shopping cart is suitable for a medical supply company. It really depends on the type of medical supplies that you plan to offer and how you plan to fulfill orders.

Open-source shopping carts like opencart.com are great options, however, they do require some technical knowledge in order to launch and successfully maintain your website.

Hosted Solutions offer a much simpler method for getting set up and maintaining your site but, they're limited in their functionality.

I would start out by writing a list of all the key features that you're going to require. Then create a column next to the list with a checkbox. I find that writing thoughts down and an organized list makes it a lot easier to narrow down the proper decision or software I should be using for a particular project.
