URGENT! unable to enter SSL URL and save

I've never been able to sort this out, or had my posts answered for this problem, to find a solution.

When you enter an address into the SSL url line in settings, and save, we get the error 'page cannot be found' and are unable to save it.

I think that then makes multisite URLS transfer to the primary website page once customers go to checkout on our secondary url sites

Maybe there is something in the .htaccess file making redirect to the primary site?
And where the " SSL url line in settings" is? May I see a screenshot?

The .htaccess file looks fine.
And how HTTP_SERVER and HTTPS_SERVER look like in the config.php?
