Doug at evolve solved it for me, but honestly, not sure what he did. He is cwswebdesign on the forums so perhaps he will let everyone know?

My host has increased the memory limit to 1024M for me. So far the internal server error 500 is not showing again. But, is it opencart requires a lot of resources? Is that normal and applies to all shopping cart? Appreciate if someone can share tricks to reduce the server resources. Please......
