Jay - I've confirmed that admin and vqmod are both in the same folder, but can't get it to work properly.

Jay - I've confirmed that admin and vqmod are both in the same folder, but can't get it to work properly.

I still can't get this to work. We're on the verge of dividing and conquering and uploading all 800 products manually if we can't get this figured out by morning. If anyone has any ideas, please let me know. Thanks.

Are there other OpenCart product import tools that are worth checking into?

Are you using a Linux or Windows server? If you send me a PM with your FTP and Opencart login details, I can take a look at it. It's most likely an issue with VQmod not being able to dynamically generate the needed modified header files from the XML specifications.

I had a quick look at it.

First of all, it seems you are using an older version of the Export/Import tool.
Secondly, you have renamed your modified header.* files to header_b.* so it didn't pick it up.

Download and install the lasted version from http://www.mhccorp.com/opencart/export-import-tool

It supports VQmod, or you can modify the Opencart core header files manually to include the necessary entries for this tool. I won't be back in my office till later this week, if you can't sort it out till then I can upload it later this week to your site.

I uploaded the latest version and have troubleshooted for hours, but keep getting a repeating lockscreen.png image and now cannot login. I'm obviously missing something but cannot figure out what is is. Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated.

As I said in my PM, its either an issue with your admin/config.php, or it has a wrong value in your database's seeting table for the config_url key.

Actually, I might see if we can get this to work. I'm trying to export products from a Yahoo Store and import into this new OpenCart store. I'll send you a PM.

Thanks to JNeuhoff, who helped get this properly installed. Now I'm working on the Excel file and was wondering if there was a user guide available to explain how to set up the data.

To get started on the file, I exported a spreadsheet to use as a template but am puzzled by the absence of a product_id field. Shouldn't each record have a unique ID? Let me know if there is any documentation available that would help answer such questions.

Just tested the Export to spreadsheet from your site, and the product_ids are in there just fine.

Is there a way that, instead of downloading/uploading the .xml, it could be saved/loaded to and from a folder on the server?

I would like to sync the data with the physical stores inventory.

Ready for this? I didn't realize the exported spreadsheet had multiple tabs. Now, that's pretty sad.

In Excel 2007, when defining the 'categories' column under the 'Products' tab, I get an Excel alert that says "Number stored as text". When I import, I don't see any of those products. However, the first 10 rows, which I imported manually, appear on the site AND appear to be stored as text. Is there something I'm missing?

Better use OpenOffice then. I can't fix MS Excel 2007 bugs! And reporting bugs to Microsoft is a waste of time.

I just tested it with Excel2010, using numbers stored as text, even added a new product with a filled-in value for among others the categories, and then re-imported it. All products, including the new one, showed up just fine both on the backend and frontend of Opencart.

I don't have MS Excel 2007.

I normally don't even use Windows.

I've used Excel for these types of imports for years and I can't see Excel 2007 being the problem. I exported the latest file using the Export/Import Tool, opened in Excel, and there are products that have defined categories. For example, under the "Products" tab, lines 70 through 99 all show category 35. However, these categories aren't defined in admin, nor can they be seen on the front end.

I just don't get how it can be this complicated. I'm even saving the file as 97-2003 XLS. I'll give your OpenOffice suggestion a try, but don't think it will resolve the problem.

Again, I am unable to reproduce your error.

On your own server, products with id 70 to 188 belong to category 35 according to your database. When I export that to a spreadsheet, this is exactly what I get, too. And your category 35 (Australian Gold) is showing up just fine both on the Opencart backend and frontend.

Also, as I said, if Excel2007 isn't able to store numbers as text, ditch it, and get another bugfree spreadsheet software instead!
