UPS access key

I applied for ups access key. However, ups responded as follows.

"As part of the process to keep customers secure, UPS will deprecate the existing Access Key-based authorization for our APIs. Beginning June 5th, 2023, UPS will no longer distribute access keys."

Can I set ups without an access key?

They have upgraded their API calling. Access Key is replaced by Client ID and API now needs the OAuth 2.0 verification. Please go through its development guide. Here is what I find

UPS has implemented an OAuth 2.0 security model for all APIs to enhance the overall security of our customers, reduce fraud and provide enhanced API capabilities. OAuth replaces access keys with a client ID and client secret for authentication. New OAuth credentials must be created on the UPS Developer Portal

The free UPS extension has not been updated to use the OAuth system. My UPS Pro extension uses OAuth, so it's an option if you're interested in a commercial extension. I also have a less-featured, lower-priced extension called Basic UPS if you don't need all the Pro features.

Can I set ups without an access key?

This will require an update of the free Opencart core extension for UPS shipping, it depends on the willingness of UPS to support the setup of developer accounts, without them it won't be possible to do the upgrade. We contacted the UPS technical support on this.
