before I post a github bug, I installed a base 4.1.0.3 store into a subfolder of my existing 4.0.2.3 shop called "new", imported all my data fine. Shop navigates fine without SEO urls enabled but enabling it makes the navigation go to the original root folder shop. is this a OC bug or an htaccess bug or ???

Are we to assume that since you are clearly a "au fait" with the terminology you "must" have set the htaccess up correctly ?

its the stock .htaccess.txt that you instruct us to rename, no changes.

For the avoidance of doubt, ‘we’ do not instruct ‘you’. The developers (and occasional user) that assist on this forum do not work for Opencart and (on the whole) have no affiliation with Opencart.

How to set up SEO urls has been answered many times on the forum, and it requires changes to the htaccess file. You can search google here => https://www.google.com/search?q=Opencar ... r+SEO+urls

In your htaccess file you will find a section with shop/ written. This is for setting up in a subdirectory.

I doubt you will find anything written specifically for OC4 (and I will not repeat why), but the principle will be the same for all versions.
