Hi - I am currently working on a new site using 3.0.3.8. When adding categories in the 'links' section, the suggested categories that are displayed when you type in the box, appear very, very slowly. Has anyone else had this issue? Is there a fix?

I am using Safira template. Everything else on the site is working fine.

Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers
Marc

Have you tried with the default theme? Are you using sharing server?
Tell us more in details what have you tested so far?

On the other note if you are building a new site i will recommend use 3.0.4.0

Why aren't you using Opencart 3.0.4.0 for your new site which has a number of bugfixes and added support for the latest php 8.x versions?

Thanks for the reply. It's the same when using the default theme. I've only tested on the default and the Safira template.

When I was looking at which version to use, the info I read appeared to recommend 3.0.3.8 because it was more stable. I have 2 other sites both running 2.3.0.2 and they have been fine.

That would have been before 3.0.4.0 was released. That version is generally considered the best to use at this point.

Templates are usually in the front end not admin related. Are you saying that your template is in admin?
There are many many reasons why this could be slow from excessively large number of categories to modifications.
Your service provider could be poor, although it is unlikely as it would result in everything being slow, but it is possible due to restrictions and a possible relationship with excessive number of products or categories.

There is no issue with OC3.0.3.8, it is very stable and there is no fix because there is no issue.
As others have mentioned OC3.0.4.0 is now the recommended version, php8 is faster (which is marginal to the human eye) than php7 but can not be the cause of your issue as it again effects everything.

It is most likely that you have a modification and you could start by removing modifications that are related to products categories and admin. Turn them off one by one or turn them all off and turn them on one by one and test one by one.

It's definitely not due to the number of products or categories (very small website). Like you said, it's probably due to an extension. I'll do as you suggested and work my work through them. Thanks

Also don't forget to check your service provider side, and check your database as well if all tables are index properly.
