OK, we just moved to a new server from Windows 2012R where we were running Opencart 3.0.3.7 to Windows 2019... with php8.4.1
We moved the original cart... nothing worked...
We tried a new install with version 4, that is supposed to be compatible with PHP version 8 and up... the installer start with:
Deprecated: GuzzleHttp\Promise\queue(): Implicitly marking parameter $assign as nullable is deprecated, the explicit nullable type must be used instead in....
and this is only the first line of a very full page!!!
now... after few days of trying to make opencart 3 work... and trying 4... this was a huge disappointment.
Any suggestion? Is this project still alive? Because I have a couple of installations... before going crazy for a project that is not alive...
Any thought?
OK the thread was closed, I would like to thank you for those that gave a useful answer... for those that did give a stupid answer like PHP8.4 is not stable... well I am enclosing according to the php.net page... (https://www.php.net/downloads.php)
Current Stable PHP 8.4.1 (Changelog) php-8.4.1.tar.gz (sig) [21,111Kb] 21 Nov 2024
If I may add a useful suggestion... I would list the php version that works with the latest release instead of a generic PHP 8 and up???
If I have to do a major upgrade (and I am sure I am not the only one) ... I go for the latest stable releases... not for the older version... I am sure everybody was driven crazy just like we did from the development we had in the last year... so... a more helpful and constructive environment is really needed...

For sure that OpenCart won't work with php greater 8.3.14 which IS the latest, official and stable release!
8.4.x is currently only a "planned" release, read: https://php.watch/versions/8.4
So don't scold on OpenCart, the "bug" is - as in so many cases - the user in front of the screen > BUIFOS

OpenCart 3.0.4.0 should work just fine with PHP versions 8.0 to 8.3, and is currently the most stable one suitable for live websites. OpenCart 4 is still subject to bugfixes and development.
