Hello guys, I just started working with OC 4, I made 3-level categories of my merchendise, only the 2nd order categories are displayed in the store, while in admin section all categories are shown.
I placed some merchendize in categories, nothing is displayed in the store. I guess, this problem has been solved already somehow. I would really appreciuate if you pinpoint me to the right topic, so that it can be handled somehow.

Please read the forum rules, and then try again, with more details, if you want help here.

In general, the OpenCart frontend menu only has 2 category levels, but you should be able to drill down to lower level categories from the actual category pages.

1. Your Exact OpenCart Version (e.g. 1.5.6.4, 2.3.0.2, 3.0.6.0, etc.) 4.0.2.3
2. Used Template/Theme - default scheme
3. (Additional) Installed Extension(s) nothing installed
4. (Additional) Installed Translation(s) nothing installed
5. Used php Version - 8.1
6. Used Browser and Version - Chrome Browser, last version

Screens with problem are attached.
Some Guru's advise to shift to opencart 3. Is this the only solution?

Well, it depends, if you want to belong to the 'latest Version' Testers, just use the latest OC v.4.x

Can you provide a website URL? Obviously you must have installed at least one extension, namely a language pack.

OpenCart (including versions of 4 and 3) only show 2 levels of categories in the drop down menu. If you need more you would need to make modifications to the code or use an extension.

There was an issue with the product counts in multi-stores.

Web site url is homise.ru
I would love to use an extension to expand categories, could you recommend me one?
I added some items to 1st level category and 2 level category, they are not shown at store page. Hopefully, the extension can handle this as well.
I am not an IT specialist, I can't write my own code, especially because its not known in which file modification to opencard code should be made. But it would help as well.

As explained above, the standard OpenCart menu is only for 2 levels, but you can drill down to lower categories, see e.g. this page. And the standard OpenCart category module which you use on your left column is again only for 2 levels.

If you can't find a suitable extension on the OpenCart marketplace for OpenCart 4 (which still has a number of known issues or bugs anyway), you might want to use OpenCart 3 and try a search for suitable extension for OpenCart 3.0.3.9 or 3.0.4.0, most extensions written for 3.0.3.8 will also work for 3.0.3.9 or 3.0.4.0.

Are you saying you have set a category for each product, but they are not showing. What do you see under Categories in the Links tab of a product?

Welcome to the community! It sounds like you're facing a common issue with category visibility in OC 4. Double-check that your 3rd-level categories and the merchandise within them are set to "Enabled" in the admin section. Also, ensure that your store's cache is cleared after making changes. For more detailed guidance, you might want to check the "Categories Not Showing" topic in the forum. Hope this helps!

Best of luck,

Alice Morgan

Thanks a lot! How I can make sure that cash is cleared?
When I want to add merchendize to category, there is a choice of only 4 categories. 3 of the 2nd level displayed, and the main category, total choice of 4. I made 6 categories of the 2nd level, they are active, two of them are not shown in the draw-down many when adding merchendize. One of this "not shown" category is somehow displayed at the main page as "empty, the others are not displayed at all.
Within this 4 shown categories, merchendize (M) can be added, and it is awailable at the main page.
I have feeling, that Opencart 4 is intentionally limiting number of categories shown as "choice" to add M to prompt buying modules, which I might do, but I dont know what to buy, since they are not awailable for this OC version. Am I right?

The Categories drop down on the product page is an autocomplete, have you tried starting typing the categories you want to add the product to?

Actually, someone maybe interested. I installed "Cool Template 4.0" to this Opencart 4 thing, and it started working much better.
This template is rusified, but I am sure, if you write to developer, he can make an English version too.
Now my site looks like this: homise.ru
If you need contacts of this guy and you can't find them, please pm me.
Also, if you have any other templates for OK 4, I ' d like to know.
Best.
