This is a bit of an off topic question, but related to invoice emails.
I have been having issues in the past few years, but more of an issue recently.
I've had issues with gmail users receiving our emails, and now hotmail has started blocking our emails.
We've also been put on a few other blacklists.
I've requested being removed from hotmail blacklist in the past and been successful but back on once again.
Other blacklists don't allow being removed.
My understanding is that my websites are on a VPS which is a shared server and someone with in our IP range has been sending out spam mail and I get sucked into it because they blacklist the entire ip range.
I used the emails sales@businessname.com.
Any one have any email knowledge on how to resolve the issue? I've tried fixing stuff myself. I use Hostagator and had them try to resolve it also with little success. I've been fighting this for a while and not sure the best steps to take to eliminate the issues. Appreciate and ideas or maybe hiring someone to help.

I've had the same problem. In the end I moved to a third party email service. I use Sender.net which works well. On their system you can set up SPK and DKIM records.

You could try moving to a dedicated server with a new IP address which would not be blacklisted.

Doesn't look like you can integrate Sender.net with Opencart or am I missing something?

Going with Dedicated would be nice, but might by too expensive to make the change.
Would likely triple my hosting costs.

What's the extra costs of a different webhost compared to the potential lost incomes due to the current email issues?
Also, there are better hosts than HostGator, use another host with a better and a more pro-active security to prevent misuse of their hosting packages.

I did a manual integration of Sender. I took out the standard links and added the Sender embed code. It works pretty well.

very important these days in your DNS settings, SPF, Dkim and Dmarc. Specially to gmail and outlook.
Good hosting party.
Have email campaigns provided by third parties. Most VPS and shared hosting are set up to send no more than +/- 250 mails per hour

I've attempted to get that all setup properly but gmail has never been happy with it and sends everything to the junk folder. Outlook has blacklisted me once every 3 months and I have to request the removal. I do their online removal and it says I'm not on their blacklist but if I email their support, they same the same thing but if I argue, they mysteriously fix it. I had Hostgator try and fix it but they don't do it properly or do much. I don't know much about setting it all up. Google taught basically.

In your position I would strip out the built in newsletter system and integrate Sender. Give it a month or two to test. You can always reinstate the default newsletter system.

I don't use the newsletter in Opencart. I use mailchimp for newsletters. Opencart only handles emailed invoices and order status updates. And any regular one on one correspondence.

When I say strip out I mean remove all traces from the customer account and checkout. I would replace these with the Sender or Mailchimp embed code. The back end admin part would not change.

Checked with Hostgator and apparently it's a wide known issue with many IPs.

We are aware of an issue sending/receiving email through Microsoft due to certain IP addresses being blocked by a widely used spam list, SpamCop. We recommend contacting Microsoft Support with the bounce-back message and blocked IP address(es).

I used to have the same problem. Using Sender was a good solution for me.
