Right now when you are on checkout STEP 2, customer fills in STEP 2, data is saved to database only after customer clicks "CONTINUE" button.
Can this be made to save all the filled out information in STEP 2 to database as the customer is typing automatically, before they click continue button? I see some extensions use ajax, is this something that can be implement in STEP 2?
PS I would like to keep OC3 original checkout so other extensions work, just want to modify it to save STEP 2 automatically to database so that I can catch customers email address even before they click continue. I feel like everyone would want this in STEP 2 at least

I would not consider this option, since this kind of strategy to gather information from customers could also encourage database flooding of rubbish information caused by bots.supak111 wrote: ↑Mon May 13, 2024 12:13 amRight now when you are on checkout STEP 1, customer fills in STEP 1, data is saved to database only after customer clicks "CONTINUE" button.

Oh I see. Good point. Well let me ask you this, as this maybe a better solution. How can I move the "E-Mail" input field form STEP-2 to ---> STEP-1.
So on STEP-1 let the customer choose if they want: GUEST or REGISTER, but they have to put their email address to continue to STEP-2

There's no need to create a new topic to duplicate your request: viewtopic.php?t=233677 . To move the email field, you need an extension to achieve this. If you cannot find any extensions that suits your needs in regard to this, you could always create a new service request in the Commercial Support section of the forum to get this done as a custom job.supak111 wrote: ↑Mon May 13, 2024 1:10 amOh I see. Even though you say this, we would recommend a one-page-checkout: https://www.antropy.co.uk/blog/whats-th ... -opencart/

I just tried Quick Checkout by MarketInSG and half the stuff doesn't work.
Want go to the next step
Adding coupon doesn't work
Updating quantity from 1 to 2, doesn't update the price..
It even uses the wrong layout. Under layouts it has its own layout, but when I go to checkout I can see that its using "Default" layout
It's like AJAX doesn't work at all. Probably because of some of my extensions? Perhaps NitroPack?
