This one should meet your requirements best, OC v.4.x seems to still be in it's late Dev-Stage: ;)
https://github.com/opencart/opencart-3
It just has been updated and called:
OC version 3.2.0.0 release

You should go for the 3.0.x.x branch which is based on 3.0.3.9, with some further bugfixes and ECB support.

@IP_CAM: As far as I know 3.0.x.x or 3.0.3.9 is more stable, with more bugfixes, and better extensions compatibility, than 3.2.0.0.

I have done quite a lot with OC4 (and lots with OC2 and 3) and 4 is ok for a new store but for a store that has a lot of extensions (custom or marketplace)or is very big then OC4 is not a good choice in my opinion as there is not enough developer take up to build the extensions. We have found it was very time consuming to upgrade a large store and we ended up reverting to 3.xx and re upgrading to 3.9 as the extra functionality wasnt there with 4.x to make all the work worthwhile. We did get it all working but were going to have to build a lot of custom extensions again and it wasnt worth it.

Uk based Opencart Developer. Love building and ranking with Opencart. Opencart > All the others!

I've got a lot of experience with OC4 (and I've also used OC2 and 3) and I think that 4 is a good option for a new store. However, if you have a store that uses a lot of extensions (either custom or from the marketplace), or if it's a very large store, then I don't think that OC4 is a good choice. I say this because there are not enough developers who are interested in building extensions for it. Also, we found that it was very time-consuming to upgrade a large store to OC4, and we ended up reverting to 3.x and then upgrading to 3.9 because the extra functionality that was added to 4.x wasn't worth the effort of upgrading. We did get everything working eventually, but we had to build a lot of custom extensions, and it just wasn't worth it.

Basically not true.
Why?
Because we would love to build our extensions (also) for OC 4.x, but as long as important core features are changing on a daily base, no one of us want to waste time.
