Change Navigation menu colour ;/

Hi all
just installed latest OC ... steep learning curve
I have tried to change the nav bar color on the standard theme ... without success.
cleared the cache ... still nada.
modified /stylesheet/stylesheet.css
line 256 , 306 , 632 with the next colour
commented out backgound image on the following lines as well

no SSL yet so u will need to use Edge and trust me

Any help appreciated
