OpenCart is advertised as free, but honestly it costs way more than a regular website. To be honest I wish I never started using OpenCart. It seemed so great and powerful. That was until I needed my first extension. Anybody else experiencing massive issues?
Website running slow when adding modules to pages.
Cannot change shopping cart quantities or remove items (cache problem).
Cannot log in or log out (cache problem).
Numerous PHP errors, never forget this one.
If you are not a developer and you're looking to start an online store, please hesitate. Hesitate A LOT because OpenCart might be your biggest mistake. You need extensions to fix small issus, but the extensions create new issues. When they are solved, other issues suddenly show up.
What the hell?
How do I just STOP the issues once and for all?
All other online stores have working websites.
They are definitely not using OpenCart, are they?
I have to keep asking developers for help.
While waiting for their response numerous visitors have left the website because of malfunctioning parts.
This can't keep happening, you can't run a business this way.

OC version. Numerous PHP errors; no error logs posted. Lack of info. Submitted in Feedback section as an incident requests, no details provided.tsirhcsusej wrote: ↑Mon May 03, 2021 10:36 pmOpenCart is advertised as free, but honestly it costs way more than a regular website. Thanks but this really is feedback.
It's not the first time I ran into all these problems.
I just have to keep asking developers for favors all the time.
While waiting for a response the visitor numbers are dropping significantly.
If it happened only once in a while, it wouldn't be so much of a problem.
Every website runs into issues every once in a while.
But this happens a lot!
When installing the first instance of OpenCart, some default functions didn't even work.
I had to ask developers to fix things that should be working by default.

Then, you took the right initiative to ask a developer to fix the unposted but specific issues occurring on your server specifically. You already found the answer to your question.tsirhcsusej wrote: ↑Mon May 03, 2021 10:45 pmThanks but this really is feedback.

Sadly, I think OpenCart is always going to be like that. It's basically developed by one person. They tend to focus on new features and not so much on testing and stability. They don't tend to release bug fixed version unless it happens to coincide with some agreement they need to do a release for.tsirhcsusej wrote: ↑Mon May 03, 2021 10:45 pmWhen installing the first instance of OpenCart, some default functions didn't even work.

The maintenance releases tend to be left to third-parties, who either give up due to the amount of work required or make matters worse.
As OpenCart get more complicated I can only see it getting worse. As you have probably seen version 3 has some underlying issues that don't look like ever getting proper fixes.
