V3.0.3.2/ Journal 3 theme

Morning All,

My "Contact Us" form is being spammed, it's always the same IP address and I'd very much like to block it. Please can you advise the best method for doing this?

Many Thanks

If you are comfortable editing files on your server, the easiest would be to use the htaccess file. You can find directions on that lots of places online, like this one:

http://www.htaccess-guide.com/deny-visi ... p-address/

If you aren't comfortable doing that, there's usually an area in cPanel that you can do it in. I think it's called "IP Blocker". That basically edits the htaccess file for you when you enter an IP in there.

Thanks Johnathon,

I think the IP block list was removed from OpenCart 2.1, I've found an "Anti-Fraud IP" extension so I'll give that a go....

If not will have a look into the HTaccess route.

Many Thanks

You can try these three things..
1. Enable google recaptcha
2. Install ANTI FRAUD PROTECTION - EMAILS from this link https://www.opencart.com/index.php?rout ... or%20Donev
3. Install Force login for contact page from this link https://www.opencart.com/index.php?rout ... _license=0

The Spambot Buster will do the job. However, you'd have to use OpenCart's standard Contact Us page, not for the one from Journal3.

Export/Import Tool * SpamBot Buster * Unused Images Manager * Instant Option Price Calculator * Number Option * Google Tag Manager * Survey Plus * OpenTwig

Had same issue. Used IPBlocker for a while. Helped a little. Google reCaptcha had the biggest impact. Pretty much brought it to a stop.

Thanks All!

I've enabled Google recaptcha V2 and that seems to have done the trick! I'll keep an eye on it for the next couple of days and try some of the other suggestions if I get any other suspicious activity.

Cheers

Consider ours as it's completely invisible and doesn't bug the user:
