Hi

I am working on a site and a new requirement has popped up to display a group of products in a "collection" for a short period of time. I'm a little stuck on how to achieve this and hope someone can give me a nudge in the right direction. Searched hard, but couldn't find anything suitable.

The products will be promoted via a link on the homepage prior to a special occasion, e.g. Christmas. The shop owner would like to manually select products to be included in the collection.

My initial thoughts....

(1) Create a category and add the items to that category. This would work and the category layout works well, except the new category would show in the Category module, which is not ideal.

(2) Add a tag "Christmas" to the products selected, then run a search and link to that search term. This gets the right products, but the search layout is not ideal.

The site is OC2.3.0.2. Any thoughts from people with bigger brains than me would be massively appreciated. I will consider any/all VQMods, new modules etc. and it would be interesting to see if anyone has come across this type of issue before.

Many thanks
Steve

Thanks for the links. These are not quite what I am after, though.

The groups of products wouldn’t be bundles, or grouped together, just presented together. For example, products which would make a good gift would be shown under a link to “gifts for him”. Or similarly “gifts for her” would show anything that may be suitable as gifts for a female.

I’m stuck on thinking about categories as a potential solution.

Check here on that, you might find something matching.
And if not, you have to get it made:

Hi,

I am not exactly sure what it is you want to do but I have a module that can probably do exactly what you want. You can pretty much create anything with it.
https://www.opencart.com/index.php?rout ... n_id=33048

everything on the demo site - except the wine bottle scroll to top - is created with LINKS on a default set up

Have a look in the market again, but this time type "similar products" in the search bar. Collection, group, bundle and combo all have a similar ending as far as Opencart. To promote a product/s for extra sales... Are you planning to let the customer buy these products "presented" together, if the customer decide so? To achieve your goal you may need more than one extension and combine their functionality, but I can assure you that it can be done..

At the same time, even the extension listed above by Mona, while quite impressive, it may do the trick..
Cheers
