if you mean you want to remove sub-categories in category page and you are using the default theme, you can do this :
Edit this file:
catalog\view\theme\default\template\product\category.twig
Find:
Add before:
Or edit this file:
catalog/view/theme/default/stylesheet/stylesheet.css
add below css code to the end of the file:
Then you may need to refresh the modifications, clear the theme cache and clear the browser cache.

you should do this in the controller, not the view.

In open Cart 4.0.2.1, default theme you have to change following file: public_html/catalog/view/template/product/category.twig
change the :
line 10 to: {# <h2>{{ heading_title }}</h2> #}
line 23 to: {# <h3>{{ text_refine }}</h3> #}
line 28 to: {# {% for category in categories %} #}
line 29 to: {# <li><a href="{{ category.href }}">{{ category.name }}</a></li> #}
line 30 to: {# {% endfor %} #}
change the :
