I have been building a store with over 2,000 products with nearly half the products having 6-12 options, currently I have 4 different options lists with the largest one being 28 options.
For nearly 3 months the site worked just fine we had nearly 50 live visitors last weekend and the server handled the load fine.
Now all of a sudden my server cannot even handle the load of even 2 users and will crash
I have had my server host technical team diagnose this issue and this was their reply:
"The server had almost 500 points of load when a normal load should be around 2 points. The reason for this is that even one single visit towards the site is spawning several simultaneous PHP requests. This is not a normal site behavior . Usually, well written sites trigger one PHP process. In your case, several simultaneous processes, multiplied by many visitors easily eat up all of the server's RAM. We can not resolve this for you. We do not provide website analysis or optimization services ."
Is this normal operation for an OpenCart store of this size?
My server currently has 6GB of RAM and I would think this server should be able to handle my site.

THUMBS UP TO YOUR HOST TEAM !
Oh and that is before you start with multiple css, js, font requests and loads of other stuff you are probably not even using ..
We can not resolve this for you either, but if you get rid of Journal your problem will be solved !

Or make it even more messy. I recently had to remove both Journal and Nitro due to crazy mess they both created with the store. If you have both, you gonna cache the cache and minimize the minimize. Especially, if Journal is version 3.paulfeakins wrote: ↑Thu Oct 10, 2019 5:13 pmJournal is a complex bloated mess, but NitroPack Cache from iSense should make it usable.

You caught me red-handed...
Is there somethings wrong with their servers and opencart compatibility?
I'm starting to realize this myself. I have NitroPack set up and I believe my configuration is correct, is there a thread or documentation on how to best configure NitroPack with the Journal theme, CloudFlare etc.?paulfeakins wrote: ↑Thu Oct 10, 2019 5:13 pmJournal is a complex bloated mess, but NitroPack Cache from iSense should make it usable.
to meet GTMETRIX and other Test Engine advises first, as shown in the image above.

There is everything wrong with SiteGround. This is one of the worst hosting providers and you should run from them as soon as possible. Sooner or later you will, but sooner is better, trust me.ryan@calikulture.com wrote: ↑Fri Oct 11, 2019 12:57 amYou caught me red-handed...

Anyway, if you are thinking of a change then the googe "EIG Hosting" and make your own mind up! It's a bit of a surpise and a shock.
Then check Paragon Group, which is owned by HEG (Host Europe Group) which in turn is owned by GoDaddy.

a normal page request will trigger several php scripts to run, not simultanious as native PHP does not do parallel processing, which will result in an html output send to the requester.
That in turn will result in several tcp requests to the host for additional assets referenced in that html like js, css, images which have no bearing on PHP just your webserver. With http/2 you can even push those before the browser requests those.
So are they talking about the PHP script load or the amount of simultanious tcp requests.

The guy has a SiteGround, you can't reason with them. They literally count every request to your server and when you reach the limit (which is quite low), they start shaving you like crazy or even put your site down for a day or two. I've been with them for a couple months. Probably the worst hosting company I ever saw. Every customer of theirs should grab his stuff and run as far as possible from this shitty company.

Commerciality trumps all the other issues here .. Have you tried to load this site?
The webshop owner may not like the answer I have given, but that does not mean he appreciates that I have answered what is honestly in his best interests to do.
This is a site that you want people to make multiple impulsive purchases. No one in their right mind is going to waste their time waiting to browse this site. They are going to close it and use the next one on the google list.
The customer profile by design and product is young customer base, who is more than likely to be using a mobile.
No matter what ‘tweeks’ you attempt, the result will be a small tweek. IP-CAM has made the best suggestions, which you should do anyway, still none of these are going to make this site the type of site it needs to be. You are loosing customers and sales because you think the bells and whistles to ‘beat’ your competitors, when in this instance the opposite is the case.
