Per Lasse's request, I've created a Search History archive contrib that records each search from the front end, and saves it to a db table. On the Admin side, I added it as a "Report" and using the new db-based admin menu, I seamlessly added it with no mucking about in the menu files.
Take a look at the demo here:

You can add searches by searching from the main site: http://unbannable.com/opencart/
Please let me know if there are any other features or captured info you'd like to see in future versions.
Enjoy

Hey Qphoria
It looks great
I have a suggestion for a future version:
The possibility to speficy which date range you would like the see the search results in.
Quick Date Range (suggestion2.gif)
Here you can choose ranges like: Today, Yesterday, this week, last week and so on.
Exact Date Range (suggestion.gif)
Here you can choose the excat date (maybe with a nice calendar when you click the input fields)

Hi Lasse,
I will look into it for the next release. For now, you can search date/time, term, and ipaddress using the normal search field.
but for now v0.1 is ready. You can get it from the first post.

- It supports the upcoming (hopefully officialized) db-based admin menu, but also includes instructions on adding it to the old menu.php.

Yes. The db-based admin menu is a contrib that I made but am hoping for it to be accepted into a future official version instead of as a contrib because its something that needs to be set as a standard for contributions.
I am just making sure my contribs are future-proof.
For now just do the one-step menu.tpl file modification

Ah ok sweet
I found a single error in your readmePDF:
You write:
"Manually edit the admin/extension/module/menu.php file and find.."
It should be:
"Manually edit the /admin/template/default/module/menu.tpl file and find.."
I just installed it and it works great!!

I have tried to install this MOD. The catalog side works fine, the database stores the search results but I have permission problem on the admin panel. Every file has the same permission and every file belongs to the same user and group. Any idea?
