Easiest way it goto admin system/localisation/currencies and edit your currency
click next to the $ and add a space using space bar, then click save.
This should work

While multiple reasons might be involved with the request, a zone, such as the QC zone in Canada (French language) does require to set a space between the currency symbol and the float value on the right side of the float.

@s3eed: While OC is not compliant with this policy, take note that countless providers already requires the currency symbols to be removed before completing the payment / shipping transactions. OC also already removes the currency symbol in wide locations on the platform when needed. At this point, it would be pointless to address a space between the currency symbol and the float value other than for its presentation. However, Cyclops has the right solution here; to address a space between the currency symbol and the float value in the admin would be the right location.

It sounds to me like it would better to add a new Canadian Dollars currency rather than adjust the USD one?

I did had a thought on that one while explaining the view on the above but let's not forget that USD is the primary source of currency codes Internationally already. It would also be pointless to switch currency source around since users relying on service providers to convert the currency values also prioritizes with USD currency values.
