All the ones I've see can not subtract from inventory for the components that make up the bundle, they only subtract from the bundle inventory which does not work for me as I have several bundles that use the same cable.

There's no such thing as "bundle inventory". All products are subtracted from the same general inventory.

I would think so too, a bundle is basically a virtual product composed of actual products, if one or more of those no longer exist, so does the bundle so you could only subtract from the actual products.
