Contact Us page redirects to homepage in Navigation menu

hey, I am completely new to opencart. I am trying to give link to contact us page in navigation menu but it redirects me to the homepage.
<li><a href="{{ contact }}">{{ text_contact }}</a></li>
why is it so? and how can i get link of the new content page to add it in my code??

To use a variable in a view, it must be defined in that view's controller.
