I am of the opinion that OpenCart is the best at handling ecommerce, however I've come in to some issues at work.
First off the webshop we operate is an old version of OpenCart (1.5.6) and I am currently trying to upgrade it, but have no real experience with OpenCart, so I'm going to ask my boss to get ExcelPort to make the transition easier.
He has asked some people that sometimes support us with the website and they said that while they think it should be upgraded, they think it would be better if we move the shop to WordPress.
The main problem with upgrading the shop was not losing any data, so as I see it, wouldn't we have to start all over if we instead have our shop in WordPress? Our database won't work then?
Also my boss is now convinced that WordPress is the best solution (he's very oldschool and know next to little about computers) just because they told him.
Can I get some unbiased opinions on the subject? Wouldn't moving to WordPress be too much of a hassle, and isn't OpenCart better in general for webshops?
If indeed it is better to have the webshop in WordPress, I would love to hear some reasons why.
I am quite new with webshops and I used to code in VisualStudio so I feel pretty blank with CMS.
Hope you can help!
