Hi All,
Just hoping someone can provide me with a step by step or point me to a guide on how to duplicate a standard field in opencart.
I am familiar with how to duplicate a module, but I want to create a duplication of the linked products.
The reason for wanting to do this is to have links to two different groups of products e.g. "Compatible Accessories" and "Alternative Products "
Could anyone advise how I would go about duplicating the table etc in the database "correctly".
The template and language changes I am happy to make changes to and understand what needs doing. Its the model / controller and database + any other files I would like assistance / guidance with.
Many Thanks
James
We have an extension, which might suit you: Recommended Products. In short, you'll have recommended (Alternative) products section added for each product, which works similar to Related Products, but in a little more sophisticated way.
Professional OpenCart extensions, support and custom work.

Thanks for the link, Because I want to add multiple versions of the this I would ideally like to understand the workings behind it so that I can replicate and manipulate it in a few different ways.
well, I doubt that someone will tell you in detail, what to do, to achieve such, and in the Extension
Section, multiple cheap Mod's exist on this, probably matching your version, as I found out.
But if you want to basically find out, how such works, then you should check on something like this,
it's not so complicated, to 'misuse' a RELATED PRODUCT Extension, even add it as (description) TAG,
then, you can selectively ADD other 'recommended' products to each Product, where this is required.
Below Mod's are all for v.1.5-Series, still, to serve as 'Learning Book', they should do well!
