Remove a payment method in 2.3.0.1

Hi,

I just tried removing a payment method by removing the controllers,models etc.
But now when I go to extensions->payment I see a couple of empty entries that still try to link to the removed method.
Are the methods also stored somewhere in the database?

I cant find what I'm missing..

My first question is why do you want to remove them? Isn't disabling them enough?

Not really, I received updated scripts from the payment provider because the existing ones weren't compatible with 2.3.0.1 .
I was instructed to just upload and overwrite the existing files of that payment method, but after that I had two times the payment method and each variation of it.

So I removed all the files I uploaded , but now in the payment extension list there are a bunch of empty entries.
So somewhere theres some data left over but I can't find where, hence my question how to remove instead of disable them.
