I understand you can associate downloads with products, however for my opencart site (v2) I have disabled the cart function and still require the functionality of the downloads area.
It is a photography site, that should have the ability to allow clients to login as usual but have a custom page which will be different for each customer and the ability to download content which is available only for them in the account area.
Any ideas or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

As mentioned it is a photography site which will have clients being able to access their images and download them.

You can have a single page with a unique password protected download and its (html)description. You can send this link + password to the client. It has an SEO keyword option. Something like: https://yourdomain.com/photograph-client
The page is not hidden from other users but if you don't link to it on your site, it won't be found or indexed.
I can also customize it to your needs if needed. If you want, contact me at info[at]ilithemes.com
