I installed v2.1.0.1 a few days ago. The install seemed pretty straightforward. I initially set up my store information, added my categories, and entered 40+ comics. At first, when I went to the website (www.wevegotcomics.com), I could click on one of the categories and the comics would be listed. Last night, everything changed. When I click on the categories, I get the 404 Error - Page Not Found.

Because I just installed it, it was no problem to delete the files and re-upload OpenCart. After doing the initial setup again, I added 3 categories and 3 comics. But I am still getting the 404 error. I don't know what to check. Maybe it is something that is in the SQL database? It would be nice to get some help. I am not a programmer.

Thanks!

UPDATE: I was entering information in the SEO KEYWORD fields as I put in new categories, manufacturers, and products. Under SETTINGS/EDIT/(SERVER TAB), I changed the USE SEO URLS to YES. I don't remember doing this, but obviously I did. This one change caused by site to give me the 404 - Page Not Found error every time I clicked on a category. When I turned this item off, everything works again.

Can anyone explain how to use the SEO KEYWORD? All I know is that Search Engine Optimization is important to getting seen by the search engines.

Thanks....

You probably need to activate (for want of a better word) the .htaccess file in the root directory. By default it is called .htaccess.txt.

You need to loose the .txt off the end.

I have the exact same problem. Posted a few posts down but nobody responded.

I tried renaming the .htaccess file but it didn't help. Same result. Thanks for any assistance. My husband bought a template before trying this out, so if we can't get this working, we'll have to get a refund. Hoping it works, though.

I changed RewriteBase in .htaccess but still get the same error.

I cannot do step 2 Activate the SEO URLs because I do not have a previous copy of open cart installed. It's a new install.
