Thanks Moggin, tried the extra line but didn't do the trick in my case. I had got my example from stackoverflow but missed that example thanks. I was also looking at Google Libraries as an option to speed up the jquery call which I didn't show on the original post but which resulted in 7 requests.
The minifier from refresh-sf.com is great. But i like css, html, js minifier from http://beautifytools.com better.
Even a better result is gained from altering your databse tables from mysiam to innodb and adding index tables to.
